Exploring the Balkans: Budva

I have always dreamed of a job that would allow me to travel. Many people around the world dream of the same thing, but most of them are swamped with work and the demands of everyday life. Eleven years ago, I was lucky to become a web technology specialist. Choosing this profession gave me hope, since many people in the industry are not bound to specific locations where they are expected to work.

When I began working for Speed and Function, my dream finally came true. Last year, I stayed for a few months in Montenegro, a small country located in Southeastern Europe, in the western part of the Balkan Peninsula. Since then, I have been fortunate to visit a number of beautiful places, make new friends, and learn more about life.

This is the first in a series of posts about new places where I was lucky to travel recently. Today I will introduce you to the town of Budva in Montenegro.

A small town located on the coast of the Adriatic Sea, Budva is the center of Montenegrin tourism. I chose Budva to be my temporary home in Montenegro because of the town’s warm Mediterranean climate and calm pace of life after the tourist season came to an end.

This was the view outside my window.

Budva is a very cozy town. It has a lovely embankment that continues into the smaller villages nearby, with many viewing points.

The Old Town is spectacular, both outside and inside.
